Free Chipotle day January 26

Do you like free food?

Do you love Chipotle?

If you answered “yes” to either (or both) of those questions, then I’ve got some great news for you.

The popular Mexican fast-food chain has declared January 26, 2015 Sofritas Monday, which means you’ve got a chance to get yourself a free Chipotle meal — or several, if you’re clever about it.

How to Get Free Chipotle

To get your free food, you must order an entree that contains Chipotle’s new Sofritas, shredded organic tofu braised in chipotle chilis, roasted poblanos and other spices. It’s a new non-meat option that will appeal especially to vegans and vegetarians, but carnivorous customers may also enjoy its spicy kick.

Sofritas was rolled out in nine states in October and is now available nationwide (and in Canada). Chipotle wants to make sure you give it a try — so much so they’re willing to throw a free burrito your way if you do.

To get your free meal (or meals — more on that in a second), purchase a Sofritas entree on Monday, January 26th and be sure to hang onto your receipt; it’s your golden ticket for the free stuff. Bring that receipt in any time between January 27 and February 28, 2015 and you can claim a free entree of your choice: a burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos.

Sounds pretty good, right? You try Sofritas, which you might wind up really liking. Even if you don’t love it, you’ll get a free entree to thank you for your time.

If you haven’t tried Chipotle yet, this free day is a great excuse to do so. If you have, and you love it, it’s a great bonus.

Want Even More Free Food?

Free stuff is always awesome — and the more, the better. Here’s where you can game the system.

The fine print on the Sofritas promo states:

Limit one free regular-priced menu item per Sofritas entree listed on receipt; free items must be redeemed simultaneously in a single visit and are subject to availability.

What this means is there’s no limit on how many Sofritas entrees you can purchase on January 26th, and no limit to how much free stuff you can get for doing so. Order three Sofritas entrees on Sofritas Monday, and you can get yourself three free items of your choice in the weeks to come.

The catch (because of course there is one) is that you must order all your Sofritas entrees on the same receipt and you must redeem all your free items at the same time. If you want to make the most of your free food, you’d better be prepared to eat one heck of a meal, or to take some of your items home for consumption later. Reheated, days-old Chipotle may not be appealing for some people, but for others, the lure of free food can make pretty much anything more palatable.

And no, for those of you thinking of being extra-sneaky, you cannot bring in a copy of your receipt; it has to be the original. So don’t try hitting up several Chipotles in the hopes of multiplying your freebies; it’s a one-shot deal.

Your Turn: Will you take advantage of this free Chipotle deal?
