Looking for something fun to do on Black Friday that doesn’t involve standing outside in the dark waiting for a big-box store to open?
Here’s an alternative that still involves the outdoors, but gets you out of the concrete jungle.
All 75 Minnesota state parks will waive entry fees for Free Park Friday on Nov. 25.
Why “Free Park Friday”?
Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources explains the move:
“We want you to spend time with your family outdoors on the day after Thanksgiving, and with free park entry all day, you have no excuse not to get out there and walk off your turkey dinner! (It’s what we’ll be doing too.)
The Free Park Friday announcement includes suggestions for how to spend your day. If I were nearby, I’d head for the southwest corner of Minnesota, hoping to see bison at Blue Mounds State Park. I would also bundle up for such an adventure.
Locals and visitors taking part in Free Park Friday are invited to share their snapshots with the hashtags #OnlyinMN and #FreeParkFriday.
Your Turn: Will you visit Minnesota state parks on Black Friday?
