Hot dogs are the quintessential American food. When Franklin Delano Roosevelt hosted the king and queen of England, he served them hot dogs. If they’re good enough for the queen, they’re good enough for you.

It just so happens that Wednesday, July 19, is National Hot Dog Day, and there are deals to be had. There are hot dog discounts at a number of regional and national chains that day.

Where to Find Free or Discounted Hot Dogs on National Hot Dog Day

Here’s a list of the hottest hot dog deals and discounts:

Dog Haus

This chain has more than 90 locations all over the United States. On Wednesday, participating locations will serve free “Haus Dogs,” which are all-beef hot dogs served on King’s Hawaiian rolls. There are six versions, ranging from “Cowboy” to “Downtown” to “Chili the Kid.”

Hamburger Stand

This Western fast-food chain has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado and Wyoming. On Wednesday, you can get four chili dogs for only $4. The chain insists that you have to buy them in multiples of four to get the sale price.

Love’s

There are more than 600 Love’s Travel Stops in 42 states. On Wednesday, members of the Love’s Connect travel and rewards app can get a free hot dog or roller grill item.

Nathan’s Famous

You’ll have to hit Nathan’s at lunchtime to get the deal.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, you can buy a hot dog at Nathan’s locations for a nickel — the original price from when Nathan’s was founded back in 1916. (These days they cost $2.99.) This is an annual tradition for Nathan’s on Hot Dog Day, so mark your calendars accordingly.

You can still get a great deal on hot dogs the other 364 days a year. Sam’s Club and rival Costco sell hot dog combos for $1.50 or less every day.

Original Hot Dog Factory

Once again, you’ll have to aim for lunchtime: From noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, you can get a free all-American hot dog with no purchase necessary.

This Georgia-based chain has five restaurants in Atlanta, five in the rest of Georgia and one location each in Charlotte, Memphis, Miami, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Philly Pretzel Factory

This chain has about 170 locations in 15 states, and it turns out Philly Pretzel Factory doesn’t just serve pretzels. It also serves pretzel dogs — hot dogs wrapped in pretzels.

On Wednesday, you can get a pretzel dog for only $1, instead of the usual price of $3. No additional purchase is necessary.

Pilot Flying J

The largest truck stop chain in the U.S. is getting in on the act. If you have Pilot Flying J’s myRewards Plus app, you can get BOGO hot dogs on Wednesday — and not just during lunchtime.

Sonic

If you don’t feel like getting out of your car, this is the only drive-in restaurant on the list. Sonic is in every state, with more than 3,500 locations.

On Wednesday, you can get Sonic’s Chili Cheese Coney Dog for only $1.29. (They normally cost $3.39.)

Target

Meh. This isn’t exactly the best deal on the list.

If you’re a member of the Target Circle rewards program, you can get 25% off Ball Park hot dogs at the Target food counter on Wednesday.

Wienerschnitzel

The hot dog chain with the most German name has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, Utah and Washington.

Wienerschnitzel is part of the same company that owns Hamburger Stand, and it’s offering the exact same deal on Wednesday: four chili dogs for only $4.

So there you have it. Ten national and regional chains where you can celebrate National Hot Dog Day appropriately.

Is a hot dog a sandwich? We don’t care, as long as it’s a bargain.
