Congratulations to Eliot Sayavong from Syracuse University for winning $2,000 in The Penny Hoarder’s “Frugal Student” scholarship!
We had more than 1,500 students enter the scholarship this year! Amazing.
As part of the entry process, we asked students to share their weirdest, most unusual ways to save or make extra money. And boy, did they deliver.
We’ll be featuring some of the best entries throughout the next couple of weeks, including our winner’s response, so that we can all benefit from their great ideas.
Sayavong reached out to us after finding out she won to share these thoughts:
“This scholarship will be very helpful in my pursuit of my music industry major at Syracuse University. Not only will it be helpful toward my tuition, but it will help pay for my sheet music, my accompanist fees, and even my flights from my hometown in Iowa to New York. Penny Hoarder has helped to make financing my education easier for both me and my family. I appreciate this generous gift!”
If you’re interested in entering this year’s scholarship contest, please head over to our entry page for a full run-down.
Thanks again to all of our entrants!
