Global customer service manager Sitel is on a hiring spree, and it’s offering up thousands of on-site and remote positions in North America.

The company plans to fill 6,000 customer-service jobs by the end of the year. The openings are available in the U.S. and Canada.

“Approximately half of the positions we are hiring for are remote,” said Samantha Johnatakis, a senior talent acquisition manager at Sitel, in an email.

The company hires remotely across 41 states. California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington are excluded, Johntakis said.

For on-site positions at contact centers, Sitel is recruiting in these metro areas: Augusta, Georgia; Fishers, Indiana; Knoxville, Tennessee; Las Vegas, Nevada; Spartanburg, South Carolina; Pompano, Florida; and St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, according to a company hiring announcement.

Sitel Hiring Spree: Jobs and Requirements

Sitel’s current openings are customer-service related. Listings in the company’s job board indicate two positions are the primary focus of the hiring initiative: customer service representatives and insurance sales agents.

A mix of full-time, part-time and temporary positions are immediately available.

As a customer-service rep, you’ll help customers of third-party companies via phone, email, live chat and social media. You may be fielding questions on behalf of major brands, such as Airbnb, Toms or Michelin for example.

As for the insurance agent position, you’ll be tasked with selling home, auto or renters insurance and assisting current enrollees with questions related to their policies. You won’t need an insurance license at the time of your application, but you will need to pass the appropriate exams and earn a license during the course of your employment.

Both jobs are entry-level, though some experience is preferred. You’ll need to be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or GED to qualify.

To apply, use Sitel’s online job board and select Canada or the U.S. to find openings near you.

Based on hundreds of self-reported wages on Glassdoor, these positions at Sitel typically pay between $10 and $15 an hour — with insurance agents on the higher end.

Work-from-home positions at Sitel have specific home-office requirements, including:

  • A PC or desktop with Windows 10 and antivirus software.
  • A separate 19-inch monitor for a dual-screen setup.
  • High-speed, hard-wired internet connection of at least 3 Mbps download speed and 1.5 Mbps upload speed.

Full-time U.S. employees are eligible for benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan, employee discounts and more.
