Should you take on a side hustle? Where do you even begin? Are there any downsides, and what pitfalls should you be aware of?

All great questions to consider before opting in to more work. They’ll all be tackled during a free, hour-long webinar hosted by Fairygodboss, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. Eastern.

Be sure to bring your own questions as well. There’s time for a Q&A with speaker Natasha Nurse, a magazine editor and podcast host who launched her own consulting company.

To reserve a spot for the event, dubbed How to Jump Start Your Side Hustle, you first need to create a profile on Fairygodboss’s website using a Google or Facebook account or an email address. Then click “register” on the event page. Fairygodboss will automatically send out event reminders one week, one day and one hour before the event.

Nurse lives and breathes the hustle. She founded career- and lifestyle-advice website Dressing Room 8 on the idea that “fashion can be a tool of empowerment, rather than one of shame.” She also works as an editor for Plus Model Magazine and co-hosts the WokeNFree podcast with her husband, Kahlil Nurse.

Operating on a similar theme, Fairygodboss is a website that seeks to elevate women at work by offering career advice, vetting how employers treat women, posting jobs, hosting virtual events and more.

(Also on Sept. 25: Fairygodboss is hosting a virtual career fair for women in tech, an opportunity to chat directly with recruiters from big-ticket companies like Apple and Verizon. It runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern, so it’s possible to swing both events.)

Itching for answers to those hustle questions in the meantime? You can read up on The Penny Hoarder’s latest side gig strategies to tide you over.

You’re not alone in looking to cash in on a side hustle. According to a survey from the Federal Reserve, upwards of 78 million people participate in gig work in some way or another. There are benefits, no doubt, to these types of alternative work arrangements. Chief among them are flexibility and on-demand hours.

But the reality of working in the gig economy isn’t always pleasant. At times, hustle culture can be toxic. It can affect your health and relationships if you’re not careful. Before diving into additional gig work, it’s important to create a financial or professional goal for your side gig.

Most of all, your side gig should benefit you — a topic Nurse is sure to touch on during the Fairygodboss side hustle webinar. And if your Tuesday morning can’t accommodate, be sure to check Fairygodboss’s past events page after Sept. 25 for a recording of the event.
