How to Make $575 By Sharing Your Political Opinions

Bush and Obama

If you’re a long time reader of The Penny Hoarder, you may know that before I started blogging, I worked on political campaigns all over the country. I loved working in politics, but eventually quit because of the extensive travel commitments.

Anyhow, I just found a great way to fulfill my political passion and make some extra money…

I recently found a research study that pays you to for your prediction in a variety of future, newsworthy events. And they’re paying participants $575!!

It’s Called SPADE

It stands for “System for Prediction, Aggregation, Display, Elicitation”.  It hypes itself as an online community of subject matter experts who are helping to change the way we approach the discipline of forecasting.

What it really is, is a group of opinionated individuals who enjoy current events.  The topics you can provide insight to include politics, economics, science and technology, the environment, and the military.  It’s a pretty broad range, especially when you look at topics like politics.

What You Will Do

Basically, the company will give you a question or topics, and simply ask you to forecast your thoughts on what would happen based on the information provided.  Sometimes the company will provide information, sometimes it won’t and you will have to decide.

Some of the forecasts you’re required to make include, “Will a North Korean or multinational military force fire on, invade, or enter South Korea before 1 June 2012” and “Who do you think will be inaugurated as President of Russia in 2012?”

It’s pretty easy work, but since this is high-paying survey, there are quite a few questions…

Who is Eligible & What’s Required

If you are a U.S. Citizen, over 18 years old, you are welcome to apply.  They need candidates from a variety of educational backgrounds, but they prefer individuals with bachelor’s degrees or higher. There’s only hiring around 1,000 people. So if you’re interested, I would apply quickly.

If you’re approved, you will have to do 100 survey forecasts per year.  You basically commit for at least one year, and you can continue, at your choosing, for additional years.

You will get paid $575 per year, or basically $575 for answering your 100 forecast questions.   You can participate for a total of 3 years if you’re really interested in providing your opinions on the questions asked.

The cool thing is that since these are online surveys, you can do them any time, so you can fit this gig in to your schedule anytime that it’s convenient for you.  It can be a great way to earn some extra cash on the side, especially if you find yourself commenting on political blogs at night anyway!
