Ready to buy a car? How about a pool, a flight, or even groceries?

This tip will keep your wallet fat and happy: the day and time you go shopping could have a significant effect on how much you pay.

Save more hard-earned cash simply by timing your purchase. Here’s a helpful guide from ABC News to help you buy your next…

Car

Head to the dealership near the end of the month, quarter or year, ABC News reports. Sales staff will be working hard to hit their quotas and may be more willing to negotiate. Weekdays are better than weekends, since they tend to be slower sales days.

Flight

Travelling on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday saves you money, and early-morning and red-eye flights are the cheapest. Experts point to Tuesday around 3 p.m. ET as the best time to buy your ticket, but warn that deals can pop up at any time.

Pool

It may be difficult to imagine yourself enjoying your new pool in December, but that’s the best time to shop for one. You’ll appreciate the savings come summer!

Gas

While it varies state-by-state, the cheapest time to buy gas is usually on the weekend, according to a study by GasBuddy.

Groceries

To save money, shop on Wednesday — that’s when most stores start their new weekly discounts, but they’re also likely to honor last week’s coupons.
