Could you go for a margarita right about now? Frozen or on the rocks? Salt on the rim or no salt?

Either way, we’ve got a dream job for you: Be an official margarita tester on a trip to Las Vegas!

That’s the grand prize of a contest from the Canadian-based website OnlineCasino.ca, although the contest is open to all Americans and Canadians of drinking age. The winner will be selected in a random drawing.

The winner and a friend get to spend a week in Las Vegas taste-testing margaritas. They’ll also get $4,000 to spend on hotels, flights, food and drink, plus anything extra.

For more information about the contest, go here. To just go straight to the entry form, go here. Note that the deadline is Oct. 1, so don’t wait.

You’ll just need to type in your name, birthdate and email address, and answer a multiple-choice question about what your favorite cocktail is. (Think hard about what the right answer might be.)

How You’ll Rate Margaritas

Are you ready to sip that magical blend of sweet, sour and salty goodness in the party capital of the world?

The winner will rate margaritas based on five criteria:

  • Taste
  • Presentation: the appearance and garnish
  • The quality of ingredients used
  • Setting and atmosphere
  • The overall experience: Was it a good value for the money?

You’ll also need to take photos of each beverage to go alongside each of your reviews, which will be posted online.

Applications close on Oct. 1. The winner lands the “job” of being a margarita tester for seven days in Vegas sometime between Nov. 1 and Feb. 29, 2024.

To pay for the trip, the winner gets $4,000 in cash, or the equivalent in Canadian dollars, paid via PayPal.

One important note: The contest asks that the winner drink only one margarita a day, in line with government guidelines. (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that adults of legal drinking age who choose to drink alcohol should limit their intake to one alcoholic drink or less per day.)

So if you feel like life is getting too salty for your taste, maybe add a little tequila, lime juice and triple sec.

Remember, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you limes, make a margarita! Isn’t that how the expression goes?
