Update on My Experience with BillCutterz.com – See How Much They Saved Me…

Remember how I told you a few days ago that I hired someone from BillCutterz.com to help re-negotiate my bills?

Well, the results are in…

I started out by sending my BillCutterz rep, Katie, copies of my cell phone bill, car insurance, pet insurance, and cable/internet bill. And then I waited for her to work her magic.

Katie called each of my companies and asked for a better rate on behalf. They’re usually successful because BillCutterz is able to leverage their relationship with big brands like At&T, Verizon, and Brighthouse to get you unadvertised savings.

One thing that surprised me is how little I had to be involved. There were a couple of times that my provider wanted authorization to discuss the account with BillCutterz, so Katie patched me onto the call for a quick second to give the representative approval, and then she took care of the rest.

Like I mentioned before, I was pretty skeptical that she could save me any money. I mean, I’m professional personal finance blogger after all. LoL. I’ve got my bills as LOW as they’ll go. And I wasn’t willing to give up any services/insurance coverage either.

The whole process took a few days, but get this – Katie was able to save me…

$247

Holy crap.

Here’s a breakdown of what happened…

She convinced AT&T to cut $20/month from my bill for six months as a thank you for being a loyal customer. And then $10/month for the six months after that. Total savings – $180/year.

Katie said she also made a note on her calendar to follow-up with them in six months to see if they would extend the $20/month promotion, so the savings might even be greater here!

There was less success with my insurance companies. Like I said, I’ve shaved every cost I could there and I was already receiving every good driver discount they offered. Not much of a surprise here.

However, something kind of amazing did happen with my cable/internet company. I had been fighting with them for months about a promotional discount I was supposed to receive and never did. I had sent emails, made phone calls and even visited a local office, but was getting the run-around. I had pretty much given up…

But, Katie worked her magic her again and was able to wrangle a $67 credit that they promised to apply to my next bill. Woot! Very impressive.

All in all, I probably saved less than the average person, and after BillCutterz fee, I saved a grand total of $123 over the next 12 months. And considering I was only involved for 5 minutes, I call this a total success!

Remember the service is totally free if they are unable to save you any money, so I didn’t really have anything to lose. I’ll take my one-hundred twenty three bucks and laugh all the way to the bank. 🙂
