We Counted More Than 530,000 Openings: Here’s Who’s Hiring for the Holidays
It’s official: The holiday season is here. For workers, that means hundreds of thousands of opportunities for permanent and seasonal positions.
In 2024, we calculated that more than 530,000 positions will be available at some of the largest retailers. These types of seasonal jobs are a great way to recoup the cost of holiday travel and gift giving. They could even lead to a full-time career.
So if you’re looking for a seasonal job, all this is good news for you. To attract workers, many companies offer $17 an hour starting wages.
Here’s a look at who’s hiring for the holidays and how to apply.
Amazon: 250,000 Full-Time, Part-Time and Seasonal Jobs
With more than 1.5 million employees, Amazon is the second largest corporate workforce in the world. So you know Amazon will be hiring for the holidays.
The company is making waves by hiring 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal roles through the end of the year. Amazon will invest $2.2 billion in pay increases for customer fulfillment and transportation employees. The company says the average pay for those roles is now $29 per hour.
All seasonal employees at Amazon will earn at least $18 per hour with access to health care benefits. The company says seasonal employees who stay at Amazon can see a pay increase on average of 15% over their first three years.

Kohl’s announced holiday hiring plans in September but didn’t indicate the total amount of opportunities. Kohl’s said it would be hiring for seasonal roles across its 1,100 stores, as well as fulfillment centers and distribution centers.
The company’s Chief People Officer, Mari Steinmetz, says, “seasonal associates can immediately take advantage of a flexible schedule, weekly pay and a 15% associate discount for holiday shopping.” She adds that Kohl’s makes offers for many seasonal employees to stay with the company.
For the second straight year, FedEx has made no announcement regarding seasonal positions. The company currently has nearly 6,000 seasonal positions listed on its jobs page.
