How to Make Money Test Driving Cars

Chevrolet Volt

If you love cars you will love this money making idea. Did you know you can get paid to test drive new cars at automobile dealerships?

Here are two ways to make it happen:

1. Local Dealer Incentives

Car dealerships often offer incentives to customers to come in and take a look at their cars. They will give you cash or a gift card just to take a new car for a spin. For example, Kia dealerships were recently giving $25 to anyone who came in and test drove a new car. How easy is that?

I've often seen these incentives go up to $100, which is pretty great considering this takes less than an hour of your time. A great way to find promotions like this is to check your local newspaper's classified section. Pay attention to advertisements on TV as well for national advertising campaigns by major automobile companies.

2. Evaluate a Dealership

Nearly every dealership in the country pays for evaluations known as mystery shops. These evaluations are conducted by an undercover shopper who pretends to be in a market for a car. The shopper is sent to evaluate the customer service level and quality of sales presentation. The shopper is usually required to test drive a car as part of the evaluations.

After spending an hour or two at the dealership, the undercover shopper writes a short report on what they observed. It's very easy to do and most companies will pay you $50 or more for your time and completed report.

These mystery shops are always contracted through professional mystery shopping companies. Here are a few mystery shopping companies that I have conducted automobile evaluations:

Bestmark – This company pays between $20-$30 a shop, but they are by far the easiest to complete.

Sinclair Service Assessments – This company conducts mystery shops on Toyota dealerships and pays $60 per location evaluated.

Business Evaluation Services – This company conducts evaluations of Cheverolet dealerships among others. They pay $50 per location evaluated.

Intellishop – Some of the dealerships evaluated by this company include BMW and Mazda. Their payout is $50 per location.

Good luck Penny Hoarders!
