Get Paid to Listen to Music as a Lyric Transcriptionist for Genius

We’ve all experienced something similar to this: We’re driving around when a Pearl Jam song comes on. We pretend to know the lyrics and mumble something. After the song is over, each person has their own theory as to what Eddie Vedder is actually mumbling. A 20-minute debate ensues.

How do you settle that debate? You Google the lyrics and boom, the mystery is solved. (And everyone in the car is probably wrong.)

As a lyrics associate at Genius (formerly Rap Genius), you’ll help settle similar arguments all around the world. Part-time associates are in charge of listening to new music releases and transcribing the lyrics for publication in Genius’ lyrics library.

This position requires some weekend work, as the schedule is typically Thursday through Saturday.

No previous experience is required — just a strong passion for music and some familiarity with the Genius website will do. Fluency in Korean or Spanish is a huge plus, and you need to be at least 18 years old to apply.
