Looking for Seasonal Work? Here’s Who’s Hiring for the Holidays
The impending holiday shopping rush means many of us are making gift lists and trying to set aside as much money as possible. For workers, it also means thousands of opportunities for permanent and seasonal positions.
Seasonal jobs are a great way to recoup the cost of holiday travel and gift-giving. They could even lead to a full-time career.
However, seasonal hiring is expected to be more limited than usual this year. Career coaching company Challenger, Gray & Christmas anticipates seasonal retail hiring to be the lowest since 2009 as companies navigate tariffs, inflation and other economic uncertainties.
That doesn’t mean seasonal hiring will stop completely. If you’re looking for a seasonal job, the companies mentioned below are a great place to start.
Here’s a look at who’s hiring for the holidays and how to apply.

Michaels: Hiring 10,000 Seasonal Team Members
The arts and crafts retailer announced in September plans to hire 10,000 seasonal workers across the U.S. and Canada this year.
The announcement said seasonal employees can expect competitive wages, flexible hours and a 30% discount.

Amazon: 250,000 Full-Time, Part-Time and Seasonal Jobs
With more than 1.5 million employees, Amazon is the world’s second-largest corporate workforce. So you know Amazon will be hiring for the holidays.
Similar to last year, in 2025, Amazon is hiring 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal workers. The company says that the average pay for seasonal roles is $19 per hour.
All seasonal employees at Amazon also will have access to health care benefits. The company says seasonal employees who stay at Amazon can expect an average pay increase of 15% over their first three years.

Target: Hiring for Seasonal Jobs, With Many Staying on Full Time
The retail giant said it will start with offering additional hours to existing team members. However, Target will still hire seasonal workers to prepare for the holiday season. Roles are available both in-store and at distribution centers.
Target says more than half of the seasonal workers in 2024 were offered opportunities to stay with the company after the holiday season. Seasonal roles in-store include guest advocate, front-of-store attendant, fulfillment expert, general merchandising expert, food and beverage expert, and style consultants. Target is hiring warehouse operations roles at its supply chain facilities.
Starting wages range between $15 and $24 per hour.

UPS: Full-Time and Part-Time Seasonal Jobs
In 2024, UPS brought on 125,000 seasonal workers. The company hasn’t announced exact numbers this year, but it typically needs seasonal workers to handle the increased demand for holiday packages. It’s a mix of full-time and part-time seasonal jobs – mainly as delivery drivers, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) drivers and package handlers.
More good news: UPS makes the hiring process quick and simple. Once you upload your resume online, the company will contact you for an interview if you’re selected. You’ll complete a skills assessment and can receive a job offer quickly. Seasonal driver positions start at $20 per hour – and thanks to a renegotiated contract, longer-tenured full-time drivers can make up to $172,000.

Macy’s: Full-Time and Part-Time Seasonal Positions
Macy’s Inc. announced in late September that it would be hiring for both full-time and part-time seasonal positions across its Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury stores, supply chain locations and call centers. It doesn’t specify how many seasonal workers it will hire.
The company didn’t list starting pay on its seasonal job announcement either. But according to Indeed, seasonal associates at Macy’s average just under $18 per hour.
The online application process takes as little as five minutes, and many offers are made within 48 hours. Macy’s has also scheduled three nationwide in-person hiring events at all its stores and supply chain locations – on Sept. 25, Oct. 23 and Nov. 20.

United States Postal Service: Hiring Seasonal Workers
The United States Postal Service (USPS) said it is now hiring seasonal workers to help with the holiday rush.
Although it hasn’t announced national hiring numbers, there have been regional announcements.
The USPS says starting pay varies based on the job, but mail carriers make around $20.97 per hour, according to Indeed.

Dick’s Sporting Goods: 14,000 Roles for Seasonal Associates
The sporting goods corporate chain announced that it plans to hire 14,000 seasonal associates for the holidays in 2025. Its hiring efforts also include positions at Public Lands, Dick’s House of Sports and Going, Going, Gone! stores across the country.
Dick’s says it is seeking applicants “who are passionate about customer service, believe that sports have the power to change lives, and have a sense of enthusiasm to support, inform, equip and inspire athletes with the leading sports and outdoor brands.”
The company says these teammates will receive competitive pay, optional DailyPay and a store discount of 25% — 40% off. According to Indeed, seasonal associates at Dick’s make around $15.40 per hour.

1-800-FLOWERS.COM: Potential Seasonal and Year-Round Positions
The gourmet food and gifts company, 1-800FLOWERS.COM, added 8,000 seasonal and year-round positions in 2024 across its family of brands to meet demand. In addition to 1-800-Flowers.com, these brands include Harry & David, PersonalizationMall.com and Cheryl’s Cookies. The company hasn’t announced how many seasonal positions it will hire in 2025, but there are seasonal positions listed on its career page.
According to Indeed, the average pay for seasonal positions at 1-800-FLOWERS.com is $16.49 per hour, though pay will vary by position.

Catalyst Brands: 13,000 Associates at Multiple Retailers
Catalyst Brands, which consists of Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Lucky Brand, Nautica and JCPenney, will hire for 13,000 roles across its six brands.
Associates can expect flexible schedules, opportunities for advancement and full-time work, and a “generous employee discount.”

Geodis: Hiring 4,600 Seasonal Warehouse Workers
Geodis, a global transport and logistics provider, plans on adding 4,600 workers in the U.S. and Canada ahead of the 2025 holiday season.
The company is mainly focused on hiring material handlers and equipment operators to work across 11 of its campuses, which hold around 20,000 employees. Part-time and full-time positions are available.
These positions at Geodis typically pay up to $17 per hour, according to Indeed. Geodis says it also offers peak premium pay incentives, peak and referral bonuses, and an expedited pay option that allows employees to receive up to 50% of their paycheck before payday.

Other Notable Large Companies Hiring for the Holidays
Kohl’s announced holiday hiring plans in September, but didn’t indicate the total number of opportunities. Kohl’s said it would be hiring for seasonal roles across more than 1,100 stores, as well as fulfillment centers and distribution centers.
The company offers flexible schedules, weekly pay and a 15% associate discount. Seasonal associates will also have access to 15 Kohl’s Wellness Centers, which offer primary care, physical therapy and more. Many past seasonal Kohl’s employees have stayed with the company and built lasting careers.
Bath & Body Works announced it will hire more than 30,000 seasonal associates in the U.S. and Canada this year. These roles include part-time associates across its 1,900 stores and more than 2,000 roles at its five Ohio distribution centers.
Seasonal Bath & Body Works employees get a whopping 40% discount, flexible scheduling and early access to earned wages.
Kroger recently announced plans to hire 18,000 associates to prepare for the holiday season “and beyond,” so there are opportunities for more permanent positions. They will be customer-facing roles like cashiers, baggers, pharmacy techs and more.
